Got this as a gift and anticipated the margaritas all night. The time was right, so we opened it up and actually read the directions. After dumping in the ice, mix and tequila, we switched it on (power switch goes down for off). It ran for about 10 seconds and stpped. No particular reason. I changed outlets to no avail. After 10 minutes, I tried again and it worked. After about 3 minutes, grey smoke started coming out of the base. It kept running. At about the 11 minute mark it stopped. Smoke had been coming out the whole time. I assumed it was manufacturing oil on the motor, but I couldn't get it to start. Even after all that time, almost 1/3 of the ice was still there!!
